Richebourg, Anne Gros

Note:

The now fully mature dark pinot fruit aromas display notes of earth, spice and a whiff of exotic tea. There is still fine intensity to the substantial broad-shouldered flavours that possess a discreet minerality on the delicious if slightly edgy and raspy finish that stops just short of dryness. I would note that this is still very good and certainly quite stylish, the balance isn`t perfect. For my taste this has arrived at its full maturity and there is no further upside potential to realize. With that said, neither is there any need to rush to drink up as the `01 Richebourg should continue to hold for at least another decade. I would further note that I have had this several times over the years with mixed results as two bottles have been somewhat inexpressive even with extended airing and others have been largely like what I describe above. My scores have ranged from 91 to 94.
