Rathfinny Blanc de Blancs Brut

Note:

Normally a Blanc de Blancs lover, it was the Blanc de Noirs that stole my heart on this occasion – but I don’t think there was actually a qualitative distinction, it’s just that I drink so little genuinely gorgeous Blanc de Noirs that the above wine came as even more of an exciting fine. This (the Blanc de Blancs) is obviously just a bit prettier and perhaps more lacy and subtle ? The beautiful, fine mousse abounds with lemon zest, grapefruit and other citrus notes. The house signature of maritime, ozoney salinity comes a bit later and the wine is more citrusey and less ‘meaty / nutty’. But you can taste that house style, particularly on the finish. I honestly don’t know why people aren’t buying up oodles of 2018 English sparkling wines. It’s like 2008 for Champagne. Just buy them whilst they are still on the market and then don’t bother until 2022. I mean until I try to sell some 2019 that is ?? and find I have shot myself in the foot, obviously. So, one last time: 2018 IS the greatest vintage ever released for English Sparkling wines.
