Escaroth Chardonnay, Blank Canvas

Note:

Similar aromatics to the Reed initially, but once the reduction starts to blow away you find quite a different character on nose and palate. Here we have limeflower and grapefruit. Lemoney-verbena tinged freshness. I find the (aromatic) fruit character slightly cooler and more floral than that of the Reed. So the nose had me expecting the palate to be more rapier-like and brisk than the Reed – but I was confounded to find a slightly broader texture and creamy saline aspect to the abundant and gorgeous limey-grapefruit fruit. I love this – and knew immediately the village and even the vineyard sites that it conjured for me…..
