Goldtropchen, Riesling Grosses Gewachs #33, Schloss Lieser (Thomas Haag)
Note:
This 13% alcohol, adamantly dry bottling is more dominantly mineral than any other Goldtröpfchen I can recall. Smoke, alkali and wet stone are conspicuous on the nose. Yet at the same time, brightness, penetration and juiciness of lemon and grapefruit counteract a tendency toward austerity or weightiness. The oily feel on this bottlings full palate suGrosses Gewachsests citrus oil extracts, and peel as well as seed figure prominently on the piquant, darkly smoky, stone-lined finish. Fortunately, the aforementioned juiciness persists as well.
