Whereas this vintage’s Juffer Kabinett reflected higher-than-usual alcohol as a means of moderating residual sugar, this Spätlese harbors only its usual 7.5% alcohol. It certainly makes a feather-light impression, yet it is seductively creamy in feel and somehow manages to tame its high sugar. Ripe pear and mango are enlivened with fresh lime, leading to a lusciously sustained albeit, for now at least, single-mindedly fruity finish.
