Meursault 1er Cru Les Caillerets, Eric Boigelot
Note:
“Has a lot more depth and concentration on the palate than Les Petits Charrons. Complex, lots to enjoy here. Purity of fruit, well-judged oak, all in very good balance. Long, mineral aftertaste. The clue is in the name !” (JR) // OR – This is a goooood wine ! Pale coloured. Elegant, subtle scent, which keeps showing different aspects from white peach, through almond, into stone and savoury notes. Just a hint of gunflint but this is not a very reductive wine. Nevertheless there is something here that reminds me a bit of the Antoine Jobard wines, but a little less screechy in terms of acidity. Walks a lovely line between austerity and generosity. Medium bodied and very elegant, lacy, silky, textural, with flavours that span lime and grapefruit, through white peach, green herb, almond, honeysuckle and the barest, delicate lick of vanilla pod or white chocolate. Bone dry. 13.5% alcohol which I have come to realise is regularly my sweet spot for White Burgundy (and Chardonnay in general). Dances lithely across the tongue. Really, really good. Probably the most interesting new (to me) white Burgundy I have had in a very long time perhaps since I first tasted Boisson Vadot years ago. (Renaissance Vintners 26/11/2024)
