A discreet application of wood sets off an intensely earthy and floral nose of both upper and lower register red and blue fruit aromas. There is a fine sense of tension to the powerful and large-scaled flavors that are blessed with an abundance of tannin-buffering dry extract that imparts a velvety texture to the mid-palate but the finish exhibits the classic austerity of a young Clos de Vougeot. Patience required.
