Vosne-Romanée, Petits Monts, 1er Cru, Noellat (Georges)
Note:
There is enough wood present to notice if not really to interfere with the lightly spiced nose of earthy dark berry fruit aromas. There is reasonably good verve to the detailed and intense mineral-inflected medium weight flavors that deliver reasonably good depth and length on the dusty and mildly austere finish. There is a touch of dryness though my score assumes that this is more a question of youthful asperity than under ripeness. Note that this changed drastically with extended aeration (8+ hours) as initially this was quite light and displayed almost no spice at all. In fact this is one of the more dramatic transformations that I have witnessed.
