Just coming out of its infancy, the 2018 Pinot Noir Mt Carmel Vineyard is drinking wonderfully and still has quite a ways to go. Alluring, balanced aromas of candied cherries, rose petals, dried sage and bergamot introduce a silky, enveloping palate with pronounced richness yet impeccable balance. The finish is soaring and saline-driven yet tenacious and grounded, concluding with extremely fine, chalky tannins and remarkable persistence. If this performance is indicative of its continued trajectory, this wine should be effortlessly beautiful at 20 years old. Matthew Luczy
