Aloxe Corton, Les Fournières, 1er Cru, Tollot-Beaut
A brooding and highly restrained nose grudgingly offers up notes of the sauvage, earth and ripe red and dark currant scents. There is outstanding volume to the exceptionally rich flavours that bathe the palate in dry extract that pushes the very firm tannic spine to the background on the mildly rustic and hugely long finish. This big-bodied effort is very much built for the long-term and is definitely going to need plenty of cellar time. I would further add that Tollot-Beaut is the reference standard for Fournières and I don`t ever remember a better example than this one.
